Will You Have Visible Scarring after Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty in Mt. Vernon, Washington

For many of Dr. Jonathan Grant’s patients, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) has helped them achieve a younger look to the eyes and upper portion of the face. In some instances, patients may also undergo a brow lift and/or a face and neck lift.

Before you undergo blepharoplasty, you may have concerns, including questions about scarring. Read on as Dr. Grant discusses blepharoplasty and how he ensures patients do not have visible scarring after the procedure.

Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is eyelid surgery that can help improve the appearance of the eyes by fixing loose, sagging skin. It can also repair puffiness or deep grooves or bags underneath the eyes.

Dr. Grant can perform blepharoplasty on the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids, or both the upper and lower eyelids. Prior to your surgery, Dr. Grant will create a surgical plan to provide you with the results you want within the parameters of sound and safe medical practices.

Dr. Grant’s attention to detail ensures that no matter which blepharoplasty procedure you choose, scarring will be inconspicuous.

Upper Blepharoplasty

Upper blepharoplasty can help repair sagging or loose skin on the upper eyelids, as well as reduce puffy eyelid tissue. After the procedure, you may notice a firmer and flatter upper eyelid and a more awake and well-rested appearance. During the procedure, Dr. Grant makes an incision in the crease of the upper eyelids. Because he follows the natural creases of the eyelid, the resulting scar is very thin and typically difficult to see once the scar has matured.

Lower Blepharoplasty

Lower blepharoplasty can improve the appearance of the lower eyelid area. Lower blepharoplasty requires a great deal of surgical skill and attention to detail.

The location of the incision during the procedure depends on your surgical plan. During the procedure, Dr. Grant may create an incision inside the lower eyelid, or he may create an incision in the pre-existing grooves or lines below the lower eyelid eyelashes. In either procedure, Dr. Grant takes great care to ensure that the scar is well-hidden.
