Things You Can Do to Keep Your Skin Looking Great While You Quarantine

Things You Can Do to Keep Your Skin Looking Great While on QuarantineThe best thing you can do to stop the spread of COVID-19 is stay at home and practice social distancing. If you are in the habit of seeing your facial plastic surgeon or aesthetician routinely for Botox® or filler injections, you might worry about how your skin will start to look while aesthetic appointments are on hold.

Luckily, there are measures you can take at home to keep your skin looking great while under quarantine. Read on as Dr. Jonathan Grant shares his best tips.

Eat a Healthy Diet

What you eat affects the radiance and clarity of your complexion. Nourish your body from the inside out by eating whole, unprocessed foods and avoiding foods that are processed and high in sugar and salt. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean proteins and whole grains.

Drink Plenty of Water

Drinking a lot of water is critical to your skin’s health as it helps circulation so nutrients can reach the skin through proper blood flow. Hydrating properly also helps your digestive system flush out toxins, which is important for glowing, radiant skin.

Minimize Stress

Stress plays a big role in how your skin looks. Dynamic wrinkles form from repeated facial expressions like squinting, frowning or furrowing of the brows. Although Dr. Grant understands that there is a great deal of uncertainty right now, he encourages you to do your best to minimize stress. Whether that involves following a guided yoga practice on YouTube or downloading a meditation app on your smartphone, keep your stress levels as manageable as possible.

Protect Skin From the Sun

Sun damage is a leading cause of wrinkles and other skin conditions. Wearing sunscreen or products with SPF in them is crucial, even if the furthest you go outdoors is your patio or porch. The sun’s harmful rays can also penetrate through glass, so slather on the sunscreen if you spend a lot of time working or studying in front of a window.

Get Plenty of Sleep

Why not use the increased downtime to catch up on some beauty sleep? Quality, restful sleep allows your skin and your body the time it needs to repair itself. Skimping on shut-eye can result in under-eye circles and other skin problems.
